URBULENT

Sea domain · Concept

Below and
above the line.

Autonomous surface and undersea systems that share the same autonomy core — and the same payload modules — as the aircraft.

Concept · first systems 2027

Concept. No hardware exists. Figures below are design targets, not measured values.

A picket that can put an aircraft 100 km beyond itself.

Surface and subsurface contacts normally live in their own systems, read by their own operators, and reconciled with the air picture by a person on a radio. That reconciliation is the slowest part of the kill chain and the easiest part to break.

Both systems here run Flowstate. Their contacts do not arrive as a feed to be merged — they arrive as tracks in the picture the aircraft are already holding.

Systems

Two concepts, both carrying the 2 kg payload interface qualified on HADI.

Eddy

Autonomous surface vessel

Small attritable USV under six metres. A modular bay takes HADI payload modules unchanged, and the deck launches and recovers a HADI. ISR picket, electronic warfare, and signature generation as a decoy.

A boat that can put an aircraft a hundred kilometres beyond itself is not a boat with a drone on it. It is the same sensor network with a longer arm.

Undertow

Uncrewed undersea vehicle

Compact UUV holding a persistent passive acoustic and magnetic watch. Runs dark for days, surfaces on a schedule or a cue to burst its picture into the mesh, then goes back down.

Subsurface contacts usually live in a separate system read by separate people. Undertow puts them where everything else already is.

Marked rows differ between systems. Everything else is common by design.

Why it is cheap

The expensive part already flies.

Perception, mesh, behaviours and the payload interface come from HADI. What Eddy and Undertow add is a hull and a propulsion fit — the parts that genuinely have to be new.

One payload qualification. One spares chain. One training pipeline.

Shape it early

Neither system is frozen. If one is close to a requirement you hold, tell us before it is.
